Southern Christian Conference is led by a committee of keen Christian pastors and laypeople from all over Otago & Southland. We and our helpers come from a variety of well known mainstream churches, including Baptist, CCCNZ, PCANZ, & GPCNZ
We come together with a common love for God and his Word, and a concern that as men and women we need to be built up in God's word if we are to love him and know him more.
Although non-denominational, we unashamedly believe that the faithful teaching and applying of God’s Word will be the greatest driver of change for good in NZ, in our marriages, churches, and communities.
Our logo is designed as a compass, with the cross of Christ as our direction finder. In Christ we find the way to real life.
The chair of our committee is Pastor Sam Duthie from Grace Church, Gore.
What We believe
There is one God in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
God created the world from nothing by the power of his word.
The Bible, as originally given, is the inspired, sufficient, and infallible Word of God. It is the supreme authority in all matters of belief and behavior.
Since the fall, the whole of humankind is sinful and guilty, so that everyone is subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.
As sinful human beings we are redeemed from the guilt, penalty and power of sin through repentance and faith in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ
The Lord Jesus Christ, God’s incarnate Son, is fully God; He was born of a virgin; His humanity is real and sinless; He died on the cross, was raised bodily from death and has ascended into heaven where he continually makes intercession for His own.
Those who believe in Christ are pardoned all their sins and accepted in God’s sight; this justification is God’s act of undeserved mercy, received solely by trust in him and not by their own efforts.
The Holy Spirit lives in every true believer, and is given to every true believer at conversion. He makes them increasingly Christ-like in character and behavior, and gives them power for their witness in the world.
The Lord Jesus Christ will return in person. He will send all unbelievers to eternal separation from him, and the believer to eternal life with him. All true believers will be with the Lord in the new heavens and new earth forever.
Marriage is an institution created by God in which one man and one woman enter into an exclusive relationship intended for life, and that marriage is the only form of partnership approved by God for sexual relations.
